Peers Paving the Path
Through Peers Paving the Path, iFoster pairs current and former foster youth with their own Medi-Cal Certified Peer Support Specialist—trained professionals with lived experience. Together, they co-create and implement a personalized plan to achieve independence once they are out of care. This is a free service for youth who meet the requirements.
What Makes Our Support Unique?
iFoster’s Peer Support Specialists are professionals who are former foster youth themselves and understand lived experience firsthand. We offer whole-person focus, addressing stability, self-sufficiency, and career goals.
97% of youth served by our Peer Support Specialists report feeling more supported in achieving their self-sufficiency, education, and employment goals.
Youth Enrolled Receive:
- A 90-day personalized transition plan that evolves into a long-term independence plan for ongoing support.
- One-on-one goal-oriented sessions twice a month at minimum with their Peer Support Specialist covering topics including hands-on help with enrolling in government benefits and navigating community supports.
- Assistance with monthly financial or gift rewards for progress and milestones achieved.
To Enroll, You Must Be:
- A current or former foster youth
- Age 16 to 26
- Enrolled in a Medi-Cal Managed Care Plan (contact us if you aren’t sure whether or not you’re enrolled, or for help enrolling)
- A California resident*
